Your media. Your sources.

Universal Player is a player. The content comes from sources you connect: a TV provider you subscribe to, or a server you run yourself.

What Universal Player does not provide

  • TV channels, movies, series or playlists
  • Subscriptions, provider accounts or access to content
  • A directory of providers, or recommendations for one
  • Hosting, relaying or recording of any media

Your part

You add the address of a playlist, or the server address, username and password of an account, exactly as your provider or your own server gives them. Universal Player shows nothing until you do.

Only use sources you are authorised to access. You are responsible for the sources you add and for having the right to watch what they offer.

Video goes directly from your source to your device. Universal Player does not relay, proxy, record or store streams on any server.

    A playlist address from your provider or your own server. Channels, categories and logos are read from it.

    Xtream-compatible sources

    A server address, username and password. Live channels, movies, series, the guide and catch-up come from the account.

    XMLTV programme guides

    Guide data from an XMLTV address, matched to your channels to show Now & Next, schedules and programme details.

What appears in the app depends on your source. Movies, series and catch-up need a source that provides them; the guide needs guide data that matches your channels.

How sources are handled

  • Stored on your device. Server addresses, usernames and passwords are encrypted with the device's secure key storage and only sent to the source they belong to.
  • HTTP only with your consent. If a source uses unencrypted http://, the app explains the risk and connects only after you allow it for that source.
  • Read with care. Playlists, guides and server responses are read within strict size limits, and the app refuses addresses it does not consider safe to contact.
