Picture, sound and formats

Universal Player uses the device's own hardware decoders. Which video and audio formats play, and in what quality, therefore depends on the device: many TVs and streaming devices decode more formats than phones do.

A stream the device cannot decode is reported as such instead of failing silently. The playback troubleshooting guide explains what to try.
